The Bad conduct & violent temper of Plff was proved - Has had some money & articles from Deft - By consent the contract is cancelled, Deft paying the fare of Plff to Clarksville where his people are _________________________ May 28 Patty Crowder (F)} vs }Final Miley Crowder } Plff complains that she was severely beaten & her arm broken, in the spring of 1865 about May by the Deft while working for him Plff was examined in person, & also Sara Crowder (F) & Ellen Ransom (F) For Deft, his daughters, Frances and Elizabeth, & also Mary Crowder (F). Plff failed entirely to prove that her arm had been broken, even her own witnesses denied it, It appears that she had been struck & driven off the plantation = Her witnesses think she may have been kept from work perhaps six weeks Decided that Deft should pay Plff $6.00 which he did - & suit dismissed The testimony is on file in this office _______________________ May 30 Jerry Allen (F)} vs }Settlement Evans White (F) } Plff cut wood for Deft to the amt of $7.50/15 cords at 50¢/ Defts introduces set off amt $4.50 which is admitted, agrees to pay the balance 9 1866 May 30 Wednesday, June 27/66 - $3- paid to me July 21/66 ___________________ Candace Holden (F)} vs } Settlement Charles Holden (F)} Plff claims $15.92 for provisions & socks furnished to Deft & [[?]] done for him - Deft introduces set off amt $2.60 - which was admitted - Deft agrees to pay the balance $13.32, on the 27th of June 1866. ̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶ June 4 Isaac Godwin (F)} vs } Settlement David Stone } Deft agreed for a time to let Plff occupy his house on his Land the wife of Plff working herself extensively disagreable - Deft told Plff he must remove her. (Plff is working for Deft) it was agreed that Plff would do so - Deft agreeing to let him have a reasonable time to find another place. ̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶ June 5 Washington Mayo (F)} vs } Investigation Reports L. C. Perkinson } This was a claim of Plff for his wife & children, alleged to be held illegally b yDeft & was sent to me for investigation, by the Asst Commr No reason for making the charge appears and a full report of the case was made to the Supt Asst Dist this day. The report will be formed on page 15 Daily Record
