We woke up Tuesday morning by the fire alarm ringing 46 right up on the hill, come to look out it was in the direct line of Albert Standishs house and just as I was looking the flames burst through the roof, Pa came home and reported it was Laurence Whites barn and garage with all the tools and machinery they managed to save the house, it was a heavy loss to the poor fellow as there was no insurance. I have eaten up the most of my cabbages, they are just as good now as they were in the fall. our birds are backward in coming. I have not seen or heard a robin and not a single song sparrow. All we have here are tom cats Pa hit the old one that catches the little young robins this morning, over to the barn and nocked him in the side dont I hate him, everything I put out for the birds, he comes over and eats. I could murder him. Well some one may shoot him yet, I wish Madeline could go out in the world and get something to do like other girls, she has been a family drudge long enough. Why dont Bray get a gate on and support the family like other men, she is partly to blame I guess, well this is all Ma
