OFFICE OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS, Columbia, S.C., July. 14th. 1869 Brevet Maj Gen'l O. O. Howard, U.S.A. Commissioner Bureau R. F and A.L. Washington D.C. General: I have the honor to request that the same authority be given to me to travel upon Business relating to school matters, as have been granted to Maj. Neide - to date from July 12th., as I have already made one trip to Mt Pleasant, S.C. to inspect and accept a School House, just completed there. I am General, Very Respectfully Your Obt. Servant Ed. L. Deane, Asst Sup't of Ed'n. SC. Ent'd. So Car.
