A mans family is not to be imposed on at their own residence by a miserable vagabond. I hope, Major, you will countermand the order, I am confident [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] I know you and your desire is to extend justice to all classes. No person is more anxious to have justice done the colored population than I am and a visit to my plantation will prove the fact. Major, let me assure you, they make false reports to you and as I have confidence in you, when they report to you, if you will inform me, I will take pleasure in having the matter properly investigated and give you a true statement of all the facts which will save trouble and hard feelings. I remarked to Autery he would receive justice from you which satisfied him. Some wrong is done the black population and whenever I discover it in my Co. I attend strictly to their rights.
