[[Res?]] #[[strikethrough]]5[[/strikethrough]]8 WHEREAS, many Indian tribes have funds on deposit in the United States treasury, which funds are not available for expenditure until appropriated, and WHEREAS, it would be of material benefit to Indian tribes to have authority to use their own funds for purposes to be designated by them, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the National Congress of American Indians request the Congress of the United States to authorize Indian tribes to use their funds for all purposes deemed by them to be in their own best interest. The officials of the National Congress of American Indians are hereby directed to draft language carrying out the purpose of this resolution and to submit such language to the Appropriation Committees in Congress.
