Transcription
Jan This indenture made and entered into by S E Hammond of the first part and Charles Archie, George & Co freedmen of the second part witnesseth - That the said S E Hammond bargains and agrees to furnish as much land as the parties of the second part can cultivate also to furnish mules wagons and farming utensils as may be required, also corn and seeds of every sort required. The said Hammond also agrees to furnish rations to working hands and none other, at the rate of (4) four lbs bacon, and (1) pack corn meal per week, The said Hammond also agrees to permit said parties of the second part to cut and sell cord wood from such land as he made desire to clear and prepare for cultivation, in consideration of said parties of the second part agreeing to prepare such land for cultivation. Charles Archie George & Co agree well to cultivate such land as is furnished by said party of the first part, to work at such time and in such places as said Hammond
