House wether they are to be profited by it or not but their chief business shall be to cultivate corn & cotton The time to be employed in labour each day shall be from sunrise to sun down, allowing an hour for dinner. said Freedmen shall not be required to be at work sooner or later Rules & Regulations 1st. Said freedmen shall not leave the farm at any time without the permission of the Employer, but he shall grant them such indulgence if not Inconsistent with the Interest of the farm or the [[quiet?]] of the Country 2nd. Said Employer shall afford to said Freedmen every opportunity in his power to enjoy religion or other instruction on the Sabbath day but on such days they shall not all leave the farm but some one in turn shall remain to take care of the Stock 3rd. Said Freedmen shall not keep any live stock on the farm without the consent of his Employer and if with his consent and if with his consent with such rules and regulations as he may prescribe 4th. None of said freedmen shall dispose of his Interest in the crop without the consent of his employer nor shall such Interest be bound for any debt he may contract untill all indebtedness to his employer is first settled 5th. Any one of Said Freedmen who shall refuse or neglect to perform labour according to this contract except for good and valuable reasons shall be fined one dollar and fifty 1.50 cents for every day of part of day he thus neglects The sum to be deducted from his part of the nett proceeds of the crop one half payable to his Employer the other half to those with whom he labours. 6. Said freedmen shall take good care of the tools and stock used by them and if they are broken or lossed or damaged through neglect or carelessness they shall be chargeable for them 7th.
