Transcription
This agreement made this first day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty five between W.S. Noblin of the County of Shelby and State of Tennessee of the first part and Henry Birk Cold of the same place of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Henry Birk agrees with the said W S Noblin that he will assist in gathering the Crop now in the field both cotton and corn ginning baling and hauling the cotton to Memphis and the said W S Noblin is to feed or furnish the said Henry Birk provisions such as corn meal and Bacon or Pork while gathering the crop of the said W S Noblin and also while the Said Henry Birk is picking out ginning baling and hauling his own cotton to Memphis and the said Henry Birk further agrees to and with the said W S Noblin to cultivate twenty acres of land the following year say eighteen hundred and sixty six in a certain field on a place known as the Yarbrough land near West Union Church the field is known as Johns Cotton paetch put in good condition his portion of the fence around said field Cultivate twenty acres one portion in corn and the other in cotton the number of acres in corn or cotton will be left discretionary with the said Henry Birk to exercise his own judgement and the said Henry Birk promises and agrees to assist
