My husband and the two men then left the house, and after having been gone about three hours they came back almost to our house, when I heard the shots fired and Jim Warren was killed. The man with Penth was Wallace Webb. Webb lives about 10 miles from Mitchellsville. Penthe came into the house and said he got Jim Warren's pistol and his scalp too, and that if he did not get connection with me, he would also kill my husband. I said I would not do it, and that I thought he would not kill him. (my husband) for I thought he had done enough. He had Jim Warren's pistol in his hand. They then left the house. I saw both Penth and Webb, often since.
