Before me personally appeared the undersigned Nat Wardlan and being duly Sworn deposes as follows. My Name is Nat Wardlan I live in the City of Memphis Tenn. On the night of the 3d of May 1866 Two Policemen came to my house looking for One Mollie Davis, Said they would kill her if they found her. They told me that they would not kill me as I was an Old Citizen but would burn the house Being frightened I left immediately and in a few minutes afterwards saw my house in flames The Policeman names were Eagan and Clark. My Total Loss will amt to about $581.50 Nat Wardlan His X Mark Subscribed and Sworn to before me this the 4th day of May 1866. (Signed) M. Walsh Capt and A.A.A. Genl. and Prov. Mar.
