Transcription
Statement of the Lessesne Case. On the 13th of February 1866. Geo. L. Roux, in behalf of Rev. Anthony J. Porter, Guardian of Josephine Lessesne, a minor child of John F. Lessesne decd. applied to redeem Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14. 15, & 16 in Block 23 and Lot 9 in Block 24 in the City of Fernandina, claiming that said Josephine was the owner of said property, as the heir at law of said John F. Lessesne. On taking proof, and being satisfied that said Josephine, was the owner of said property as such heir at law, on the 16th of February 1866, the Commissioners made an order of which the following is a copy. "February 16. 1866 "Application allowed, and ordered that certificates "of redemption be issued to said Guardian" "L.D. Stikney "Justin Smith - Comm." "Wm. Alsop In accordance with said order Certificates of Redemption were issued to the said Anthony J. Porter on the 16th day of February, 1866. and a duplicate together the report required by the regulations, was forwarded to the Department, as soon as it could be done after the regulations of the Department arrived. On the 23rd day of February, 1866, a notice of appeal from the order of the Commr. to the U.S. District Court for the North Dist. of Florida, as far as relates to Lot 13, 14, & 15. Block 23 was served upon the Commissioners and a bond filed in a penalty of $500., executed by two securities, conditioned to prosecute the appeal with due diligence
