Col. E M L Ehlers S.A.C. Augusta Ga. Upon a careful investigation of within case, find that Newton Ware (Cold) Mother and three children was supported by Rodgers the same being Aunt to Cyrus Strickland, and during the time they were employed by Rogers, and Rogers presenting a/c also of $35.00 against said Ware and Strickland (Cold) it is decided Rogers is not in their debt. (Signed) William B Moore Agent &c Augusta, Ga. Nov. 22d 1867 Respectfully returned to William B Moore Agent B.R.F. and A.L. Crawfordville, Ga. for a more explicit and full statement of the case. If Rogers has any claim against these freedpeople, he must render his bill, properly sworn to, to this Office. Agent Moore states that bill of Rogers is only $35.00, when the a/c's amount to $72.00 each. How then can Agent Moore decide that Rogers is not in the freedmen's debt. Agent Moore is not called upon to make a decision, but to collect the a/c's which he will do - with the return of these papers, or show sufficient cause why the a/c's should not be paid. (Signed) E M L Ehlers B'vt. Col. & S A C
