TOAST TO JACK LENOR LARSEN - September 14, 1972 I SALUTE YOU DEAR JACK AND AM HONORED TO TOAST YOU......... LET ME COUNT THE WAYS. TO YOU, THE ARTIST, WHO PASSIONATELY PURSUES ORIGINALITY AND PERSISTENTLY SEARCHES FOR QUALITY IN YOUR CREATIVE WORK. I TOAST YOUR ERUDITION AND SCHOLARSHIP WHICH I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN OUR WORKING TOGETHER FOR OVER 30 YEARS ON BOOKS, EXHIBITIONS, ARTICLES. OUR RELATIONSHIP IS NOT ALWAYS CHARACTERIZED BY RECIPROCAL CIVILITY BUT WITH THE JOYS OF COMBATIVE, CONSTRUCTIVE IDEAS AND JUDGEMENTS. AND TO YOUR FRIENDSHIP WHICH OFFERS GENEROSITY, LOYALTY AND SUPPORT, A FRIENDSHIP DEAR JACK, THAT EXTENDS TO GIVING ME THE SHIRT OFF YOUR BACK _ AND IT FITS. THESE TOASTS AND MY LOVE, I DRINK TO YOU JACK, AND ASK OUR ASSEMBLED FRIENDS TO JOIN ME.
