Vielen Dank für Ihren Brief. Ich kann nicht verstehen, daß mein Telegramm mit der Matheson Adresse nicht ankam. Ich sandte es unmittelbar, nachdem ich Ihr Telegramm erhalten hatte. Ihr funin Feiertag ist schon auf ni guapstin mich noch grüßen. Möglicherweise hat meine Sekretärin einen Fehler in der Adresse gemacht. Ich gebe Ihnen hier noch einmal die gewünschte Auskunft:

(das bedeutet glaube ich: route for delivery?)

It is *not* R.F.O., especially since in the next line the writer mentions his (albeit incorrect) translation of RFD.

this was to distinguish it from the letter  in handwritten documents

The saucer-shape helps distinguish from "n"; the hat can be a hastily written umlaut. This is the Kurrent/Sütterlin script where so many letters have unexpected descenders.
