Was working for a fourth of the crop & was driven from the place on account of sickness Augt' 8th "In squad/3 Hands = would make 80 bags of Cotton = Mem of Contract {Geo H. McCoy cold to Dick Tayler} Verbal contract to cook for $20 per month, payable at the end of the month on August 29 1867. Augt 29, 1867 {Lucy Malhewn agst Mary Barry} [[note]] Settled this Aug of $12.60 [[/note]] Claims few wages due $12.60 note written Barry to come in and settled [[note]] Settled [[/note]] August 27. 1864. {Charles Beard cold agst Lemuel Forh. Adm Estate of Charles Forh} Ref to Asst. Commr Ala- Drew affidavit - stating a complaint that he held note of Charles Forh for which there was due $105. that Lemuel in Feby last destroyed said note. Chas Beard now resides on Coal Fire Creek Pickens Co with Mr. Nathan P.O. Carrolyom = Lemuel Forh resides 6 miles below Pickens Co. [[note]] Settled [[/note]] August 27. 1867 {Mollie Carter agst Mr. Forn} Complains that she worked as nurse one month less 1 week & 2 days at $5. per month & has seen no pay - Mollie lives just below Catholic Church on sane side [[note]] Settled [[/note]] 29 [[strikethrough]] Arthur Young agst. Eliha Cox white [[strikethrough]] August 28, 1867. Arthur Young cold agst Eliha Cox white P.O. Pickensville, Ala- Retains unlawfully 1 Feather Bed - 1 Bed Quilt - 1 Sheet - 2 Pillow Cases - 1 Ax - 1 Bread Tray - 1 Shider - 1 Iron Pot - 1 chair - 4 Hens & Rooster, cupboard & Wardrobe - Arthur & his wife was at work there - he desired intercourse with Arthurs wife, she refused & reported to her husband & Arthur & him had a misunderstanding about it - Arthur quit & got another place, returned to get his things & Cox drew a pistol, & refused to let him have above articles - This happened in June 1867. He owes Arthur $50. for wages - Arthurs wife was there Friday Augt 27. & refused to give up things Out of Jurisdiction Wrote to parties N M &c 52/67 Laura Thomas agst} Wm O'Neal Settled Augt 29, 1867. Complains that Laura was sick & because she would not, he beat & whipped & put shoulder out of place. Stopped her rations & has not paid her N.M &c 53/67 Jurden Gorden agst L.R. Kellam & W. Kellam} Settled Complains that but 1/2 rations are furnished him upon the plantation & that he has driven him away-
