Sir; I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letters of the 7th inst. In reply I beg leave to inform you that the case of Nancy Gilbert mother of Eli Gilbert late Pvt. Co. C. 3. U.S.C.T. has not as yet reached my office for payment. My business here is simply to pay claims, not to file them or to assist in filing them. I am unable to supply you with the blanks you desire, more specially I am not permitted to accept fees.
