To the Hon. Treas. U.S. Through Adjt. Genl. &c Sir: In compliance with Circular from the War Dept. A.G.O. dated Feb 5, 78 I have the honor to transmit herewith the following Cert'fs of Dep. dated June 21, 73. No 5182 for $184- this being the amt of the claim of Thos. Bainker late Pvt. Co. K. 113. C.T. as per Treas Certif No 412183 less Atty & Notarial fees No 5183 for $257 79/100 this being the amt of the claim of Lucinda Blau widow of James Blau late Sgt Co. B. 57 C.T. as per Treas. Certif no 529206 less Atty & Notarial fees. I am in possession of affidavits stating that these persons are dead Very respy yr obdt servant Geo Gibson Maj. 5th Inf. D.O. D.O. F.B. A.G.O. Memphis Tenn June 23, 1873. Henderson Harris care Mess. Winnie Dennis and Beck Forest City Ark. Sir: In reply to your letter of the 16th inst stating that it will be difficult for you to get two men who served in the same company with you as witnesses I inclose a blank form & affidavit that can be used in your case. This must be signed by two people who can write their names and sworn to before a U.S. Comsur, a Notary Public on a Justice of the Peace. If sworn to before either of the last two you must bring with you the certificate of the Clerk of the Court under his Seal that the persons before whom the affidavit is taken authorizes to take it. The blank must be carefully filled and in the two blanks lines between the words "to be" and "who enlisted" [[?]] that is how they know that you served in such a company & regiment. If they know it from having seen you in the service if should be stated. You must carefully follow these directions & present yourself at my office someday this week bringing the affidavit with you. If there is a lawyer in Forest City who has written to Washington about your claim you should bring his affidavit that you are the person who filed the claim & to what it was allowed. Memphis Tenn June 23, 73. Mrs. Rose Tyler widow of Richard Tyler Late of Co H. 57 C.T. Little Rock Ark. I have just received a letter purporting to be signed by yourself (your signature being witnesses by Messrs Henry Templeton & A. C. Allen) requesting us to give you certain information and to address my answer to P.O. Box 357 Little Rock. Whilst I shall proceed to give you the information asked for with pleasure, inasmuch as Messrs. Templeton & Allen (personally unknown to me I believe) have witnessed your mark (X) which you did not make but ought to have made, I deem it advisable to forward my present communication to you through Mr A. J. Thompson Notary Public instead of sending it direct to P.O. Box No. 357. On the 23rd day of April last I was directed by Gen. E. D. Townsend Adj't Genl of the Army to pay you upon your being fully identified the sum of $228 35/100. This amount I paid to you at Little Rock on the 29th day of June & now hold three receipts signed by you and witnessed by two witnesses. The number of the Treas Certificate issued by the 2nd Aud. E. B. French in this case was 586636 for 240 71/100. Previous to [[?]] we the money however from [[?]]
