NARA 522 Articles of Agreement, made and entered into this first day of July A.D. 1873, between [[strikethrough]] Arrington Farrar & Weakley [[/strikethrough]] Maj R. S. LaMotte 13th. Inf., of the one part, and Arrington Farrar & Weakley of Nashville, in the County of Davidson and State of Tennessee, of the other part. This Agreement witnesseth, That the said Maj. R. S. LaMotte, for and on behalf of the United States of America, and the said Arrington Farrar & Weakley their [[strikethrough]] his [[/strikethrough]] heirs, executors, and administrators, have covenanted and agreed, and by these presents do mutually covenant and agree, to and with each other as follows, to wit: First. That the said Arrington Farrar & Weakley their [[strikethrough]] his [[/strikethrough]] heirs, executors, and administrators, does hereby lease and rent to the said Maj. La Motte [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] certain Rooms situated and being in the city of Nashville and State of Tennessee, and known as Nos. 1 & 3 in the Cantrell Block on North Summer Street together with the appurtenances, all and singular, thereunto belonging, for the use of the United States, to be used as a U.S. Disbursing Office from the first day of July, 1873, at the rate of Forty dollars per month, to be paid at the end of each month, or as soon thereafter as funds may be received for that purpose. Second. It is expressly understood and agreed that this lease may be terminated at the pleasure of the [[strikethrough]] Provost Marshal [[/strikethrough]] Adjutant General of the United States. Third. The said R. S. La Motte agrees that the said premises shall be left in as good repair as when he takes possession-ordinary wear and tear and damages by the elements expected. Fourth. No member of Congress, officer or agent of the Government, or any person employed in the public service, shall be admitted to any share herein or any benefit to arise herefrom.
