I can substantiate, if necessary, and ask him to order a restoration of the only piece of property left us by the vicissitudes of the war, to my family, to shelter them this coming winter. I have ventured to presume upon our limited acquaintance and your former friendship for my brother, Robert West, so far, as to make the above request.
