Further states that he thought it best to do So, or he would have to issue rations to them, while they were waiting for the order. Hopes that it may meet the approval of the Supt. and Asst. That the law requires, they should have a residence of one year in the county from which they are sent to the Insane Asylum, and as he cannot ascertain where these women lived the prescribed time, asks for instructions. The Justice of Peace here declines to act in these cases, on the ground that they have no settlement in the County; and it cannot be ascertained from whence they came to the camp at this place. The Bureau will pay the rent for teachers quarters, when the buildings or rooms occupied by them form a part of a school building, rented or in custody for school purposes; but the rent of dwelling houses or parts of the same, or of seperate buildings, occupied as residences by teachers, cannot be paid by the Bureau.
