[[preprinted]] TUESDAY, APRIL 18, 1865. [[/preprinted]] The morning somewhat cloudy but it early cleared off. & was pleasant though a little windy the Day throughout. quite a number of strangers in town among whom I saw Lieut Garrison of the Mass 55th but did not have a chance to speak to him. in the afternoon it was reported that Garrison, Beecher & Wilson were to speak while the platform was being erected a report was received that Lincoln had been murdered & the meeting was Postponed [[end page]] [[start page]] [[preprinted]] WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19, 1865. [[/preprinted]] The morning fair & the weather pleasant received a Letter from Miss S.E.A. JHD my Brother & cousin Andrew the folks in Delaware well my Brothers Regt in camp Lee Richmond Va. the town still in excitement respecting the report received of the assassination of President Lincoln & Secy Seward though the reports somewhat modified
