Refd. to C.W. Dodge for such action as the circumstances of the case may warrant. | Elizabeth City N.C. Mar. 2/68 Refers letter of D.W. Lindsley who states that he has with him a family who had 2 children in Harreysville NC in 1863 or 1864 living with a Mr. H. Hay of that place Betty Baxter is the Mothers name who left them and came to Roanoake Island that she now wants them & requests an order so she can get them whenever they can be found Jacob Williamson is their Fathers name who has lately returned to her from service in U.S.A the following are the names of the children. Aaron 13. & Sally 14 years old requests that Jacob Williamson be furnished with any information that can be procured of the within named children. They are supposed to be in Harrillsville. Hertford Co. N.C. The following named Citizens of that place are given as likely to be able to assist in the search. Clarky Hays. J. Henry Harp (Cold) Jos Skull. Drake S. Skull & H. Hays, (white) March 11 2 | Dellin [[?]] Richard May A.S.A Comr Mar 11. Refd to, Rev. F. A. Fiske Mar. 13 Retd that he be authorized to pay $6.00. Retd. granted. | Beaufort, NC. Mar.9-1868 Reports that he has rented a room in Jacksonville Onslow Co. for use of school for freedmen at a rent of $6.00 per month. Requests that his action be approved. The freed people employ their own Teacher.
