July 31st 1868 Refers for instructions, as to his competing to adjudicate &c, case of Stephen [[McK?]]Freedman, who makes complaint (supported by affidavit) against one [[Roeddan]] Price of Cumberland Co in relation to some Hogs which he alleges Price unlawfully took from him. Aug 18th 58 * | Dillon Richard Capt. A.S.A.C. Filed. | Fayetteville N.C. July 25th 1868. Transmits Requisitions for Rations for 30 days for the destitute White & Colored of Cumberland, Moore & Hamill Cos. States that there is extreme suffering &c. August 18th 59 * | Dodge C.W. A.S.A.C. Filed. | Edenton N.C. Aug. 7th 1868. Forwards Requisitions for subsistence Stores for the approval of the Asst. Com. Says the amount of suffering has increased in that Sub. Dis. since last month. Aug. 20th. 60 * | Dillon Richard A.S.A.C. Filed | Fayetteville N.C. Aug. 18th 1868 In compliance with circular No. 14. Series of 1867, states that he has had no applications for employment for the past ten 10m days. Aug 19th 61 * | Dodge C.W. 2nd Lt. V.R.C. & A.S.A.C. Filed | Edenton N.C. Aug. 17th 1868. Makes application for a leave of absence for 30 daya, upon Surgeons certificate of ill health. Aug. 28th 62. | Doherty William F. Agent. Aug. 28th trans. to Maj. Coats in chg. Claims Div. New Bern N.C. | Elizabeth City N.C. Aug 24th 1868 Returns Discharge of an enlisted man together with letter, from the 2nd Auditor of the Treasury, reporting adversely upon his claim for Bounty. Were forwarded to him by mistake. States that Maj Coats has charge of all claims funded from there &c. W.J. 43d. Inf. ASAC. Filed. | Fayetteville. Aug. 24th 1868. Report the shooting of a Negro by Nat. Johnson, & states the civil authorities took prompt action in the matter & bound over the prisoner to the amount of $500.00. Trial satisfactory & everything law abiding. Aug 16th 64 * | Dawes Lt. W.J. 43d Inf. & A.S.A.C. Filed | Yanceyville N.C. Aug. 6th 1868. Forwards , for the action of the Asst. Comr, letter of Ansel Ware, of Caswell Co. Aug. 6, appealing from the decision of Mr. Stevens Agent of the Bureau, in the case of George Bethel, & asks for a new trial. Recom'ds that Mr. Ware be advised to apply to the civil authorities of his Co. The Civil Court being in full operation &c. Aug. 31st 65 | Doherty Wm. H. Agent. Aug. 31 refd. to Bvt. Maj Thos. Hay A.S.A.C. for information | Elizabeth City N.C. Aug. 26th 1868 At request of Mrs. Eliza Whidby (colored) alias, Overton, asks information relative to the case of the State of N.C. vs Virginia. - (her daughter who is reported in jail at Hillsboro N.C. accused of the murder of her husband, for which she is to be tried in September. Aug. 31st 66 * | Doherty William F. Agent. Filed. | Elizabeth City N.C. Aug. 27th 1868. Sends an estimate of the amount of Food required in the Sub. Dist, Elizabeth City N.C. to prevent starvation for Sept, & October, 1868. Says that Hon. John Poole has sent him letters desiring the estimate and requests that the same be furnished immediately as the case is urgent.
