Refd to Capt. J.F. Curren Agt. | Fayetteville N.C. Febry 17-/68 States that Richard Smith makes complaint that one Hardy Butler of Sampson Co. N.C. enticed his boy Wright Smith away from him. Wishes to have him returned to him. March 5 7 * | War Dept. B.R.F. & A.L. Whittlesey E. A.A.A.G. Filed | Washington D.C. Mar 2/68 Authorizes the Asst Comr. to issue provisions tp those that are in absolute want, and restrict the issue as much as possible. Can draw upon the subsistence Dept of the Army for supplies. States that no circular should be issued. March 6 8 * | Whittemore Charles B. Agent B.R.F. & A.L. Filed | Hillsboro, NC March 5/68 States he is coming to Raleigh on Saturday. Encloses petition of Jas Turner, and thinks he is the proper man for the position of Sheriff. States that he is a good Union man. Sends report and evidence taken in a case, and thinks the freedmen will lose considerable property unless protected by the Bureau. March 10 9 | Weld, Manchester W Agent, Bureau &c Mar. 10 - Retd to M.W. Weld not granted. | Fayetteville NC. Mar. 9-1868 Acknowledges receipt of Special Order No. 23, dated Raleigh N.C. Mar. 4/68 relieving him from duty at Fayetteville and assigning him to duty at Graham, N.C. Requests to be allowed to remain at Fayetteville Mar. 10 10 | War Dept. B.R.F. & A.L. Howe, A.P. Bvt. Hogan Jr ran away and thinks he has gone to Raleigh or Goldsboro to enlist which he objects to. March 17 14 | Weld Manchester W. Agent &c. E.B. p.6. | Fayetteville N.C. 10" Mar. 1868. Transmits papers concerning a case between N.C. Campbell, (W) & Wm. Jones (Cold) wherein that said Jones bo't certain land from P.M. Raleigh | Fayetteville N.C. Mar. 10" 1868 States that comp'ts have been made by Nick Carver & other freedmen that one K.J. Brady left two mules to them as security for debt that Jas. H. King, Constable levies on the mules to satisfy a judgment in favor of B.C. Sherman &c.
