It was because violet end was [strikethrough]] seen [[/strikethrough]] thought to [[strikethrough]] be [[/strikethrough]] extend farther beyond H & K than in other stars of similar type, that Dr. Abrahand suspected this star to be composite. C10837 superposed in [[strikethrough]]C5399 + Can. Minoris[[/strikethrough]] C10620 alpha Cygni Hydrogen system stronger in epsilon Cygni, other lines much stronger in epsilon. Hydrogen systems seen in epsilon nearly as far at violet end as in alpha Cygni. In alpha Cygni, 12 hyd. lines of shorter lambda than K. In epsilon Cygni, 9 or 10 " " " " " " Other lines are so much stringer in epsilon Aurigae, that the hyd. series do not stand out as in alpha. C 2310 epsilon Aurigae superposed on ^[[C 2113]] alpha Persei 1 pr. Both show well developed violet end of about same extent.
