Transcription
10.) 25th Sept 1949. A very hot, close day, after very wet, windless, night, with some very hot sunbursts. Ground vegetation very wet & no sweeping possible before midday. Left home about 10.30 & drove to Grand Canal, 1/4 mile E. of Landenstown House, Co. KD., W. of Sallins. Collected in two areas: — 1 = along S. side of canal, opposite plantation; including some insects taken off Alder along drains parallel to canal & before sweeping edge of canal was possible 11.30 till 1.15 P.M. 2 = stubble fields (oats & barley) S. of plantation & road 2 till 3 P.M. 3 = edge of canal, same as 1 but 3 till 4 P.M. Insects taken at 1. [26 mtd. & these labelled 16.11.49!] Hemiteles spp. 2♀︎♀︎, one on alder (Graham) mounted & = H. cf. sordipes or near this. Ant. 23. Head, mesonotus, pleura & tergites 1 to 3 very minutely sculptured; terebra as long as abd. - Also of a small dark form of H. inimical! Cratocryptus? ♂︎, white face, ant. 25 = Orthocentrus radialis ♀︎: not mtd. Campoplegids 3, Meloboris ♂︎, red coxae, & 2♀︎♀︎ of other genera. None mtd. Ademon decrescens ♂︎, ant. 24. Opius caesus 2: not mtd. Phaenocarpa luteipies sp. n. ♀︎, ant. 22. Type! cf. 2♂︎♂︎ taken here on 30/8 & 27/9.1939. Sp. near nina Hal. & succicola Thoms. Dacnusa pubescens, areolaris &c. 3 only: none mtd. 11.) 25.9.49, cont. Landenstown, KD., cont. Taken at 1, cont. Dacnusa (Gyrocampa) affinis ♀︎, ant. 22. D. esbelta ♀︎, ant. 30. D. nigroscaposa m. ♀︎, ant. 22/23; very nice specimen. D. uliginosa ♂︎ & ♀︎; ant. 27 & 22 - small specimens. Chaenusa conjungens 5♂︎♂︎: not mtd. Aphidius renominatus? ♀︎, ant. 15. A. dissolutus Hal. ♂︎; ant. bitten off. Prctos 7: 4 mtd. Chalcids 4: 2 mtd. including one Mymarid ♂︎ = Cynipids 2: not mtd. Hemiptera 2 spp. on Alder = Triolus luridus (greenish form!) & Pantilius tunicatus, some reddish, some greenish. Water-beetle = Hydroporus planus? fide E.O'M. & 4 other beetles Parnus prolifericornus Typhaea fumata Ceuthorrynchus contractus Cassida equestris fide E.O'M. Dipteron 1 = Taken at 2.
