Wait until I tell you of the Merton goblet (1525) and my talk with Merton. Re the Holbein....[[underlined]] fastened [[/underlined]] to the wall and not possibly for sale...the goblet another story. He said it was publish fully [[strikethrough]] not long since in Apollo Magazine. I tried to get the back number with article by HOW of Edinburgh but failed....we must investigate at public library. ^[[*]] More anon.

Tom Pomeroy has visited recently in Ireland and there saw a Turner ...what he called a Wagnerian type...descriptive enough if he is correct....thinks it a late one, has qualities like those in the Railroad Bridge with Train from Liverpool to Bmgham...et c. The owner received it from her Grandfather as a wedding present but the family are poor as church mice....Tome is on the trail and I have told him to not take no if the subject is both Turner and as he says. Place remote from Dublin so no immediate danger of missing out.

Marlborough Gallery had an Exhibition of French Primitives some time ago, and I suspect that is what you remembered....nobody there to talk to when I wnnt in and the dumb Polish girl (or German said no catalog...and I was defeated. Some ordinary looking Renoir (?) sketchy things, a couple of Boudins, not saleable, etc were hanging down stairs gallery.

Enough for now, and I look forward to seeing you on 14th...we should be in early arounf nine or ten I hear.

All the best,
