Dear John:

Trying to take care of so many things before my leaving caused my thoughts to collide, and push them out of my mind before having time to set them down, hence this new note right on top of the one I sent you yesterday.

[[underline]] Customs boundaries between Principality of Liechtenstein and Switzerland: [[/underline]] Though I know that the crossing of this almost imaginary borderline offers no problem under ordinary circumstances, I am wondering what the situation actually is for trucks loaded with merchandise. What would you think therefore of inquiring from the same shipping firm of Weltifurrer whether they have any definite indications on the topic. Otherwise it will seem safer for us to make it a condition to effect payment on the other side of the borderline, that is after the truck will have crossed the Swiss border.

The Prince of Liechtenstein is after all the sovereign ruler with his own laws, etc., and I would like to avoid any possible last minute trouble.

[[underline]] Lower price for Vermeer: [[/underline]] This refers again to the talk you will have by and by with Rottier. You will recall that we intended requesting Rottier to allow us, in case of a firm offer to accept a figure lower than the set price. We also considered the possibility, should we be faced with such an offer, of accepting a lower sales commission for ourselves than the one provided for by the contract. In other words I am of the opinion that we should obtain from Rottier a [[underline]] net minimum price, [[/underline]] allowing us thus to accept a lower selling figure than the one set in the contract, and accepting a compensation selling commission which might be lower than the set one, should we be willing to close a deal on such a basis.

This is more in the form of a memorandum to you, so that I will be sure that we will not forget to talk it over when we are together.

Sincerely,

Mr. John J. Cunningham
