June 1, 1959

Dear John,

How lovely it was to have been greeted upon my arrival by your charming note of May 23, and to hear from both Polly and you, and also to know that you are having such an enjoyable and interesting time in Europe.

As I believe I wrote to you previously, it had been my intention to go to Vienna, where I have not been in over twenty years, and a city of which I have always kept a most pleasant recollection. I am putting this in the past, for since my arrival here my original schedule has already been altered considerably, and I doubt much that this visit will be possible. I truly feel distressed about it, as it would be so thrilling to be in your company in some relaxed way. However, July when I expect to fly back is still a few weeks off, and I will be hoping until then.

With kindest thoughts to the two of you,

Sincerely yours,

Mr. [[John]] Coolidge Germain Seligman
