January 11, 1972

Dear John;

What a shock it was to learn that you were in the hospital with a broken arm. It was no doubt in your subconscious to show your sympathy with my own accident. And though I do appreciate your gesture of commiseration, if I may say so, I am greatly distressed to know of your suffering.

As you realize, the purpose of our call was to wish you a happy New Year, and it is not too late to wish you one, even though its beginning is a gloomy one for you.

We hope that ere long you will be able to resume your activities, and Ethlyne joins me in sending you our affectionate thoughts.

Yours,

Germain Seligman
