[[underline]] Report of the Executive Committee [[/underline]]

Mr. Webb reported that the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents took place on May 2, 1977, in the Chambers of the Chief Justice. Attending were:

William A. M. Burden
S. Dillon Ripley, Secretary
Charles Blitzer, Assistant Secretary for History and Art
T. Ames Wheeler, Treasurer
John F. Jameson, Assistant Secretary for Administration
Dorothy Rosenberg, Executive Assistant to the Secretary.

Mr. Webb stated that the Executive Committee considered the items on the Agenda, and their recommendations, together with any revisions resulting from their discussions, are contained in the following papers. He reported that a great deal of time was spent on how to handle the report of the General Accounting Office on the Smithsonian and the various possibilities considered by the Audit and Review Committee.

The Audit and Review Committee, appointed by the Chancellor, is composed of the following members:

Senator Henry M. Jackson, Chairman
Congressman Elford A. Cederberg
J. Paul Austin
Murray Gell-Mann
J. William Fulbright

James E. Webb, as Chairman of the Executive Committee, also participated.
