Dear Germain Seligman,

Many thanks for your letter of the 12th instant, which I got today on my return to work.

I was in Barts Hospital all last week for an overhaul. I had complained for the past two or three years of getting extremely exhausted and my own local doctor thought I should have an overhaul which I did, and as I am a Governor of St. Bartholomews Hospital I went in there for that purpose.

They findthat I have an infection in my left lung left over from pneumonia which I had some time ago but they think they can treat this and arrest it by drugs, so I am back at work. I would rather wear out than rust out.

My son has the affidavit and is sending down to Southampton on Monday to see the port authorities about the marble head. The other items are safely here.
