Dear Mr. Martin:

Thank you for your letter of November 26 and for the two photographs you were good enough to forward.  You will not be surprised, I realize, if I tell you that my own reaction is very similar to yours.  I would never, of course, pass judgment in such a case, just on reproductions, but they certainly do not incite me to consider them.

As long as I have this opportunity of writing, may I ask you whether it would be possible to have another copy of the sale you held a few days ago of the Skippe Collection.  I lent mine to a collector in whose home it went astray.  It is, on the other hand, an important document I would like to keep in my library.
