May 17, 1946 Gentlemen: Please inform me what formalities have to be complied with and what documents are required for am American citizen traveling by airplane to Jamaica, B.W.I., for a visit. At the same time kindly also inform me about the customs procedures for personal baggage containing wearing apparel shipped ahead of his departure by steamer. Is it, for example, possible to forward it directly to his temporary residence in Jamaica, and if in the negative, where would such formalities take place and will the owner have to be present at the inspection? With anticipated thanks, Yours very truly, (O. A. Liechti) British Consulate General 25 Broadway New York 4, N.Y. [[mark on bottom of page maybe an initial ?]]
