[[preprinted]] W. J. G. VERCO, M.V.O. Chester Herald of Arms TELEPHONE: CITY 6185 COLLEGE OF ARMS QUEEN VICTORIA STREET LONDON EC4 [[image - the heraldic badge of Chester Herald of Arms in Ordinary]] [[/preprinted]] Ref: V/C 27th October,1965 Dear Madam, I return to you herewith the photograph of a seal enclosed with your letter to me of the 22nd instant. The seal depicts, I think, Royal Arms of England borne between 1801 and 1837, i.e. during the reign of George III, George IV and William IV. It is so badly mutilated that I cannot be more precise about its date, but it is clearly a departmental seal (as used by the Lord High Commissioner of ? ) and if you wish to pursue the quest further, then I would recommend your sending the photograph and your enquiry to The Secretary, The Public Record Office, Chancery Lane, London E.C.4. Yours truly, [[signed]] Walter J. Verco [[/signed]] Chester Herald and Earl Marshal's Secretary. Mrs. Betty Morrison Childs, Jacques Seligmann and Co.,Inc., 5, East 57th Street, NEW YORK (22) New York, [[underlined]] United States of America. [[/underline]]
