Dear Madam,

I return to you herewith the photograph of a seal enclosed with your letter to me of the 22nd instant. The seal depicts, I think, Royal Arms of England borne between 1801 and 1837, i.e. during the reign of George III, George IV and William IV. It is so badly mutilated that I cannot be more precise about its date, but it is clearly a departmental seal (as used by the Lord High Commissioner of ? ) and if you wish to pursue the quest further, then I would recommend your sending the photograph and your enquiry to The Secretary, The Public Record Office, Chancery Lane, London E.C.4.

Yours truly,
[[signed]] Walter J. Verco [[/signed]]

Chester Herald
and
Earl Marshal's Secretary.
