STATEMENT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

relating to PUBLIC INVITATION FOR BIDS

For the Purchase of Merchandise Formerly the Property of:

KARL BUCHHOLZ, Berlin, Germany

HAMBURG AMERICAN LINE - NORTH GERMAN LLOYD

The Alien Property Custodian (hereinafter called the "Custodian") has invited bids subject to the Terms and Condition hereof for the purchase from him of certain property, formerly owned by the above-mentioned foreign nationals and vested by the Custodian, all as more fully described in Schedule annexed hereto.

1.  [[underlined]]INFORMATION RELATING TO THE PROPERTY[[/underlined]]

Inspection of the property to be sold may be made on dates and locations as set forth in the "Notice of Sale".

Prospective bidders may obtain upon request at the Office of Alien Property Custodian, 120 Broadway, New York 5, N. Y., in addition to copies of this statement, the following:

(a) The form of bid to be used by bidders in offering to purchase the property.

(b) The form of affidavit to be used by the bidders in furnishing information to the Custodian.

(c) Detailed inventory of the property to be sold.

2.  [[underlined]]INFORMATION RESPECTING THE BIDDERS TO BE FURNISHED TO THE CUSTODIAN[[/underlined]]

No bid will be considered unless the bidder shall have furnished to the Custodian, with his bid, the form of affidavit referred to above, properly filled out and executed.  Sales will be made only to American citizens and organizations controlled by American citizens and organized under the laws of the United States, or a State or territory thereof, who are not on the Proclaimed List of Certain Blocked Nationals.

3.  [[underlined]]FORM AND CONTENTS OF BID[[/underlined]]

Bids may be submitted for one or more lots provided, however, that a bid for more than one lot must specify the amount bid for each lot.  Bids submitted for more than one lot will be considered as separate bids for each lot.  Lot bids must be for all of the property contained in such lot and not for a part thereof.  All bids must be on the form of bid and signed by the bidder.  All bids must be received at the time and place set forth in the "Notice of Sale" enclosed in a sealed envelope, with return address indicated and addressed as follows:  "Alien Property Custodian, 120 Broadway, New York 5, N. Y. - SEALED BID Public Sale 12/5/44.  No commissions of any kind will be paid or protected by the Custodian.
