1 | 7 | FLOWERS OF HOLLAND IN THE 18TH CENTURY. Nederlandsch Bloemwerk door een Gezelchap Geleerden. Amsterdam, 1794, 4to, "By a Society of Learned Men" half leather (worn). Engraved title and 53 plates colored by hand, including many fine plates of the "flower of Holland" - the Tulip, enhanced with colored Butterflies, Caterpillars, Insects, etc.

Paris: Published by Gille Fils, An XIII, (1805). Large folio, half leather, (rubbed), incomplete. 40 superb plates (should be 48) by Ruotte after Prevost, produced in the early 19th Century, said to be the "best years" for the finest color plates ever issued both in England and France.

Paris (c. 1825). Folio, half morocco (rubbed) gilt. Incomplete. 139 large and handsome color plates of Flowers and Fruits (should be 147). 3 extra plates are included in the 139 plates mentioned. Marie Antoinette, Josephine and Hortense Beauharnais were the pupils of Redoute and he received the appointment of Flower Painter to Empress Josephine.

Large folio, Spanish calf gilt, lettered "Recueil de Plante". 99 handsome woodcut color plates of flowers and fruit (should be 100), with 16 extra color plates bound and engraved by Wirsing after Ehret, Eisenberger, &c (These extra plates dated from Nuremberg, 1760-1775).

(1) as published by Konrad 3rd, Bishop of Wurzburg.

(2) Edict of the 3rd District of Nuremberg, published July 1524 (Luther's Works). Printed probably by Johann Lobmayer of Schottenloher.

Extremely rare: These broadside Edicts about 1521, and are said to be rarely found outside the British Museum and various European National Libraries.
