Gentlemen:

The U.S. Information Agency is planning to include a feature on ballet by Agnes de Mille in its overseas publications program. We are hoping that it will be possible to illustrate this article with photographs of paintings and drawings by Degas.

In reviewing various pictures for prospective use, we find that you have in your possession a photograph of Degas' "Denseuse Bleue". May we have your permission to reproduce this photograph in our U.S.I.A. publications? If this is agreeable to you, we would appreciate your sending us a black and white, 8 x 10, glossy print from the original negative. Please advise us of the print and mailing charges.

Sincerely yours,
