Burpee's New Self-Pruning Tomato
The name "Self-Pruning" in a sense explains the one outstanding feature of this new tomato. It does not grow very tall nor like a dwarf tomato. It does send out many lateral branches without being pinched, which bear such an abundance of peach shaped bright pinkish red fruit which are a delight to the gardener. Almost from the very earliest to the very last of October our vines never disappointed us, there were always some ripe fruit upon them. In our little boys' garden tied to a stake were two of these vines which at one time we counted fifty-eight tomatoes growing to maturity. The real joy to me was the constant heavy production of new tomatoes growing to maturity, and their shape made them a delight to use for canning or table use.
