The Visitors Claim

One day I went a walking,
In my garden fair.
The weeds had found a footing,
And I wondered where
my plantings all had wandered;
Given once such care.

Twas then I spied a thistle
High above the weeds.
My brow became all puckered
Thots were quickest deeds;
Butswhen no thorns had pricked,
Soon they found more seeds.

The carefully gathered flowers,
Sultans of the wild,
I placed upon my dining table
Sweet as they were mild;
And then I knew the visitor
Steady claim had filed.
