FOR PRIZE CONTEST.

Detroit, Mich.
August 11, 1924.

W. Atlee Burpee Co.
Seed Growers
Philadelphia, Pa.

Gentlemen: I have planted Burpee's seeds, when I could plant seeds, for more than fifteen years. Their rewards for me have ranged from a mess of beans to inspiration in some of the hardest battles of life.

From the small town where by association with nature I learned to love my garden I came to the great city where I need it. I need it to cleanse me of the grime of my daily work and to relax the mental tension of my nervous toil. I need it as a place where I can sweat in the sunshine, find sweet coolness and peaceful stillness at eventide and wondrous hours for meditation.

In my garden I renew and insure my health. From thence comes the means, inspiration and joy of comforting and cheering those less fortunate. Its products never fail to delight and repay my friends. And over the garden I have made many friends, always good friends, and clients too.

No market affords such delicious vegetables. Nature, herself, abetted there, brings forth beauties to which all art can well do homage.

For these things I have always sought the best to achieve the best.

Very truly yours
