[[underline]] MONTICELLI PORTRAIT [[/underline]]

This portrait represents the mother of the artist, seated in an armchair, propped up by two cushions.

It is signed and dated 1873.

The subject is a very elderly woman, shown gazing towards the left, and is seen full length.

Approximate dimensions: Height, 43" Width, 39".

Her dress is black, the armchair is dark green, the cushions are of a changeable pink material, the ground is of a general reddish tonality.

The painting is of a very high quality and the face is most interesting. In certain ways, this picture can be compared to a Renoir of the same period.
