Dear Miss Harrison:

On Wednesday, the 28th., I purchased from the Carlton-Lake collection, No. 42 and No. 43, by Albert Marquet, two small ink drawings.

May I inquire how you came to consider No. 43 to be the portrait of Marcel Natanson, as I find no indication of the sitter on the drawing itself, nor on the mat?

This is not to be construed as doubting your identification, but before passing on such information to an eventual client, I would like to know if you have a precise indication.

As to No. 42, you have but "Etude d'Homme", Was there any name of the sitter suggested to you?

Thanking you in advance for your kind reply,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Seligman)
