[[underline]] MEMORANDUM INVOICE [[/underline]]

#5465 Two white marble busts, slightly over life-size, by Antoine COYSEVOX (1640-1720).

One represents King Louis XIVth, and the other his brother, the Duc d'Orléans.

As Mr. Réau explains at length in his study, and as can also be assumed from the provenance - "Château de Condé" - shown in the catalogue of the Exhibition of 1888, these two marble busts must have been made for a Royal castle, the Condé family having been allied to the Bourbons.

Both busts were formerly in the collections of -

Château de Condé
Sir Richard Wallace, Lord Hartford
Sir Murray Scott
Lady Sackville

[[underline]]Exhibited[[/underline]] in 1888 at the "Exposition de l'Art Français sous Louis XIV et sous Louis XV" held at the Hôtel de Chimay, Muséé des Beaux Arts (Nos.70 and 72 of the catalogue).
