In the three weeks that I have been here, I have had some interesting conversation which lead me to believe that an art development here may not be far off. But it is still this accursed pall of taxes, and the ever-changing, ever-threatening, European Situation, which holds people back. But I mean to keep in close touch with certain people here, for I think I am well liked, and the [[underlined]]possibilities[[/underlined]] are enormous. I see nothing to do but keep contact for the moment; nobody here will [[underlined]]buy[[/underlined]] at the moment but I am sure it is not far off.

I'm organizing a loan exhibition of "Portraits of Fair Women"- about 30- for K.C., from Dec. 1st to Jan. 15th, and shall certainly look to you for one, - preferably not English school. Please have it in mind. Something very dashing; old or contemporary. 

Hirsch has been in California for two months and has now gone to Honolulu with his wife on a brief trip. I hope to see him out there on his return.

I hope that you have not found Europe too depressing.
