want too many paintings from our collection. We will discuss the matter with J.C.,on his arrival in New York,as he wishes to see the Reynolds,as well as the Bellini. It may be that we can work out some other plan of exchange,which might include slightly more cash and fewer paintings from our collection.

Both Mr.Jones and Mr.Nichols were laid up for some time before Christmas,and Paul was not able to get a conference with them. I am hopeful, for Nesi's sake,that something can be worked out to the satisfaction of him,as well as to that of the Trustees.
