March I,I940

Dear Germain:

Just a hurried line to say that Mr.Jones and the Vincents came on very unexpectedly for a brief spree and are at the St.Regis. Mr.Jones' letter was a little delayed in reaching me,as it was sent to the Dorset. I have just talked with him over the telephone. I do not think that he comes with authority to conclude anything;but I want him to see the Reynolds and, very definitely, the Bellini once again.

I am coming over the evening of Tuesday,to the Dorset as usual;and unless they have made their presence known,it might be as well to let them rest until I come. Then I shall stay for ten days,as I have been asked to be on deck at the opening of the Poussin show at Kirk Askew's.

In haste,
