The half-length seated portrait of a woman of middle age, facing the spectator with her eyes looking toward the left. She wears a white tucked ruff, buttoned high at the neck, a rich gray-blue brocade coat with a wide collar of fur and a white bonnet, with a gold brocade border, a white transparent veil, and a streamer of ribbon falling from the cap over her left shoulder. The sitter has a strongly modeleld face with chiseled features and clear brown eyes. Her arms rest on her lap and she wears many rings. The background is painted in imitation of varnished light wood panel.
