June     , forenoon: Caught two Dipodomys one Onychomys, & one austerus.

Skinned these & then went to my coon trap at the river. An Otter or Bever had got in it & taken it off. Got another trap set for Coon or anything else. Added a few new birds to my list.

" [[ditto for: June]] 20. Cool & some rain in showers all day. Went to traps and hunted till noon, got some mice, gophers, shrews, & a Fox Squirrel. Skinned & stuffed things in afternoon till 5 o'clock, then went to traps & hunted till dark. Got 4 gophers, some austerus & two Spizella arenaria. Set traps over. Looked up some plants in botany.

" [[ditto for: June]] 21. Went to part of traps before breakfast & to rest after, took them all up, but two. Caught some gophers & mice & got some birds to skin.
