[[left blank page]] [[end page]] [[start page]] Oct. 23. Got up at 4 oclock & began on my report. Finished the mammals & part of the rest, but laid it aside at 11 A.M. & began packing skins. Had the specimens boxed at 2 P.M. & my trunk packed at 3:30. Went to town, shipped the box, mailed letters, & was at the station in time to write a letter before train. Left Ogden at 7 P.M. & reached Kelton at 11. "[[ditto for: Oct.]] 24. Woke up in a new place, with the wind blowing & cold. Hunted most of A.M. among the salt weeds & greese brush on the flats. Saw 6 Jack Rabbits, all with black tails, & lots of signs of coyotes. Found holes of Dipodomys & also of some kind of mouse, possibly Perognothus. In P.M. hired a rig & went to Nels Jensens ranch, 8 miles north & in the foothills. Set traps rest of day.
